Drop a file onto the WALTR PRO window and it lands in the correct iOS app — Music for songs, Movies for video. That is the core of it, and for someone who runs a school game club it makes a neat companion to other media tools on a Mac.
What it handles
- Music formats: MP3, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, WMA, M4A, M4R, CUE
- Video formats: MP4, M4V, AVI, MKV
- All iPhones, iPads, iPods back to the original iPod Classic
Bridges the gap between Apple apps and unsupported formats
Most Mac users already have an audio converter, a video player, and iTunes (or Music). WALTR PRO sits between them: it takes formats that Apple's apps do not open natively and converts them on the way to the device. No library management, no sync — just drag, drop, done. That simplicity matters when you are transferring a club recording or a lesson video and want it on an iPad before the bell rings.
Wi-Fi network is required for device detection
A few things trip people up at first. The app transfers over Wi-Fi, so both the Mac and the iOS device need to be on the same network. If WALTR PRO does not find your iPhone or iPad, check that the device is unlocked and that its screen is awake — a locked or sleeping device often does not show up.
Some video files take longer than expected to appear on the iPad. That is usually the conversion step: WALTR PRO re-encodes formats like MKV or AVI so that iOS can play them back. The wait depends on the file size and the Mac's processor, so it helps to queue transfers during a break rather than between lessons.
If a song or video lands on the device but the iOS Music or Movies app does not show it, a quick restart of the app on the phone or tablet often brings it into view. The same goes for the Mac side: relaunch WALTR PRO if it loses sight of a device mid-transfer.
Does not replace iTunes or manage your library
Does it replace iTunes? No. WALTR PRO does not manage a library or handle playlists. It is a straight transfer tool — you pick a file, it converts and sends it. Your existing music or video library stays exactly as it is.
Will it work with an old iPod Classic? Yes. All iPod models through the original Classic are supported. The connection happens over Wi-Fi, so no extra cables needed.
Can I send files to more than one device at once? The app handles one destination at a time. You can switch devices between transfers, but it is not built for pushing the same file to five iPads simultaneously. For that you would want a deployment tool.
Is there a limit on file size? No hard limit, but very large video files (several gigabytes) will take longer because of the conversion step. Splitting a long movie into chapters before transferring can make it more manageable.
Drag files from iTunes or Music directly into the app
WALTR PRO works alongside the tools you already use. If you keep your music in iTunes or the Music app, you can drag tracks from those libraries directly onto the WALTR PRO window. Same for video files that live in the Movies app or a Finder folder.
For school use, pairing it with a quick audio editor like Audacity or Ocenaudio is handy: record a club session, trim it, then drop the finished file into WALTR PRO for the students who want it on their phones. No extra steps.
macOS drag-and-drop works as expected. You can pull files from a Finder window, the desktop, or inside other file managers. The app window stays on top during transfers, showing the status of each file, so you can start a transfer and switch to another task while it finishes.
If you use the Mac's built-in screen recording or QuickTime Player to capture gameplay or tutorial clips, those export as MP4 files, which WALTR PRO sends to an iPad without conversion. That saves a step when preparing material for the game club or for a substitute teacher who needs the files on their tablet before class starts.
